In a small Yorkshire town in the 1960s, three women tell their stories of birth, death, marriage and motherhood. Though they are strangers, their stories begin to overlap and their lives become interlinked by the brutish actions of one man.

Whilst the women's liberation movement sweeps the world without them, these forgotten souls battle with the past and present to forge their own freedoms, and to nurture dreams of defiance.
