Reflections On Debussy - Japanese Music, Old And New: Mojibei Tokiwazu V
An exciting partnership between the Hall and the BBC Philharmonic brings a series of innovative events marking 150 years since the birth of Claude Debussy, lead by Japanese pianist and acclaimed Debussy performer, Noriko Ogawa.
Reflections On Debussy focuses on the composer’s special relationship with Japan and the Far East. In addition to the concerts, you can sample traditional Japanese ceremonies, attend lectures by musical experts on Debussy and Takemitsu and experience the anarchy of Le Chat Noir - The Black Cat; the Parisian nightclub where Debussy met his many bohemian friends.
Today a recital by legendary shamisen-performer, Mojibei Tokiwazu V, with discussion and explanation led by composer Yoshihiro Kanno and Noriko Ogawa.
