A fantastic kingdom, a handsome prince, a beautiful princess and a mischievous fairy; this is The Wooden Prince, and tonight Juanjo Mena and the BBC Philharmonic plunge headlong into the enchantingly colourful world of Bartók’s little-known ballet made for large orchestral forces. It is music to set ears tingling, toes tapping and to stir up the emotions. Share the thrill of rediscovery, and enjoy the glorious sound of Renaud Capuçon in Korngold’s Hollywood romance of a Violin Concerto. Oliver Knussen supplies the fireworks.
