Puccini's triumph returns to Covent Garden for the first time in 30 years in a new staging by Jonathan Kent, under the baton of Music Director Antonio Pappano. The exciting, consummate Puccini soprano, Kristine Opolais - who caused a sensation as Madama Butterfly in 2011, sings the title role and Jonas Kaufmann takes the role of her
lover, Des Grieux.
This is a much anticipated new production, and Kent's vision of a young girl who faces temptation in the big city will surely resonate with today's audience.
