A Musical Portrait: Ensemble Chaconne
Celebrating the great English painter Thomas Gainsborough's passion for music, with works by his friends Carl Friedrich Abel, Felice de Giardini, J.C. Bach, Johann Fischer and Rudolf Straube.
In addition there will be a piece composed by society lady Anne Ford (shown in a stunning Gainsborough portrait holding her English guitar) and a song by African composer Ignatius Sancho, who was born on a slave ship and rose to become a composer and a man of letters.

Ensemble Chaconne
A period-instrument trio from Boston USA. Hailed for ‘vitality and character….style and verve,’ (MusicWeb International), Ensemble Chaconne has toured widely at venues including Atlanta’s famed Spivey Hall, The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park Florida, Bowdoin College, Washington University’s venerable Edison Theatre in St. Louis, Connecticut Early Music Festival, Boston’s legendary Jordan Hall, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Indiana State University, Concordia University Ann Arbor, and others.
