For The Love Of Mic Xmas Special

For The Love Of Mic is a rap night with a sense of fun. Think party hip hop, G-funk, early '90s rave, R&B, garage, grime and loads of pop featuring tenuous cameos by MCs with Hennessy bills to pay. Music policy: "If there's an MC on it, we'll play it". And by "MC", we're talking everyone from Mos Def to Betty Boo to the dude who does the "Serious As Cancer" rap on "Rhythm Is A Dancer".

This time round, we’re doing an Xmas special and yet again, it's totally FREE.

Special Xmas-themed highlights include:

- The chance to visit Santa’s Ghetto, have your photo taken with him and be giventhe special prezzie of a card that’s redeemable for the request of your choice. Assuming you haven’t been naughty, that is.

- Free masks of rappers wearing santa hats.

- The chance to win free booze by competing in a rap-off that celebrates the chilly weather conditions of a white christmas: Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice, Baby”.

- The entire history of hip-hop in an hour, as guest DJs Music By Numbers play a set of 60 hip hop classics in 60 seconds. Was meant to be an end of year round-up. Got a little out of hand.

- The usual hip hop photographer wandering around, offering props and pun-filled placards for you to pose with for photos.
