Never miss another 'The Heavy' show
"The Glorious Dead" Album Launch: The Heavy
Renegade soul-rockers The Heavy release their new album, "The Glorious Dead", their third full-length LP, and the follow-up to their acclaimed sophomore record "The House That Dirt Built" on 20th August on Counter Records. Self-produced and with their unique, raw eclecticism fully intact, it’s their most fully-realised record yet, mixing together soul, hip hop, rock, blues and funk into glorious, raucous party music that is equally full of heart. Combining Frankensteining swampy voodoo and b-movie zombies with garage rock and Gospel-soaked soul, it’s unlike anything you’ll hear this year.
The band's live show, too, has come of age. After their incendiary appearance on Letterman - which ended with the man himself asking them to play the US TV show's only every encore - the band have gone on to play blistering sets across the world. They showcased much of the new album at SXSW this March, their affinity with with their audience made obvious when the fans happily joined in singing the new choruses with Swaby. Funk-ridden, riffy and hair-raisingly emotive, The Heavy's live show is a true communion with their audience. Get along and watch them play live at the Borderline!
The Heavy
These Bath boys are bad. Bad like serious rock 'n roll. You remember rock 'n roll, don't you? Well, The Heavys are here to keep the fires burning, the dogs barking and the broken hearts pounding. Playing a mix of guitar-heavy neo soul and rock using crunchy guitar, funky horns, and Curtis Mayfield-like vocals, their songs incorporate many different styles. Their track "How You Like Me Now?" has been featured in several television series episodes, including Entourage, Community, Rookie Blue and White Collar, as well as in the 2010 film The Fighter.
