Catching The Changing Planet

Have you ever thought about what the Sahara used to be thousands of years ago? Desert? Land? Or water? Professor Nicholas Drake will take you back 125 thousand years to paint a picture portray of a green Sahara with lakes and fish. The green corridors from dating of lacustrine sediments will take us back to the routes for the migration of modern humans out of Africa.
With the development of satellite remote sensing, human beings are now able to build those large ‘eyes’ observing the planet from space.

What improvements have we caught with those eyes? How do they change our understanding of the planet system? Professor Martin Wooster will give a talk on the space based remote sensing technical and explore its application in the earth science. Let’s catch a view of the planet from space!

So if you are curious about our changing planet, are a keen “pub-quizzer” or just fancy a pint whilst listening to fascinating talks about our planet then Pint of Science 2014 with King’s College London Geography is the right thing for you!

Pint of Science is a non-profit organisation and all your ticket money will go towards future events.
