Barnes Music Festival

The orchestra and choir from St Paul’s Girls’ School return to the Barnes Music Festival to perform an all-English 20th century programme. In the first half, the award-winning Paulina Voices sing works by Vaughan Williams, John Gardner, Charles Villiers Stanford and Holst. In the second half, the Chamber Orchestra plays Andrzej Panufnik’s Thames Pageant which includes a Magna Carta section and performs Elgar’s Piano Concerto recently re-discovered by David Owen-Norris.

The music department at St Paul’s Girls School has a long history of providing excellent musical opportunities for its pupils with Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells all holding the post of Director of Music. The Chamber Orchestra is the premier orchestra and plays at major concerts and events. Paulina Voices is the auditioned chamber choir of 30 girls and have performed at many of London’s leading venues including the Royal Albert Hall.
