Oh, I Can’t Be Bothered

After the success of The Ugly Sisters, RashDash take a new direction in this two hander about monogamy, love, and the importance of female friendship.

Do we actively choose monogamy or are we conditioned into thinking it's the only option? In a departure from the company’s most recent work, RashDash tear through the conventions of traditional love to consider the violence of owning another persons body, and explore how platonic relationships could be prioritized instead. Through a dream-like fusion of physicality, striking image, text, vocal play and song, straddling the gaps between theatre, performance art, and a vivid dream, this is a show that speaks to the brain and the body.

They stand with their noses pressed together in an empty room. They roll and tumble, they dance and collide, they shout and paint. If they don't decide now, life will decide for them. Dee doesn't want Bea to be with Him. Dee thinks Bea should leave Him, and be with her. She doesn't fancy her, she doesn't want them to have sex. But they should be together. Because their love is the most important. Bea's phone won't stop ringing. They're sorry. It probably won't happen again.

Oh, I Can’t Be Bothered signals a change in direction for Artistic Directors Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen, who are developing and experimenting with their process of creating work. Performing as a cast of two for the first time since the company formed in 2008, and focusing less on live music and more on the physical and visual qualities of the work, this artistic development comes ahead of the company’s collaboration with playwright Alice Birch, with who they will be working on a new show about pornography in 2015.
