Serpentine Park Nights 2014
Between June and October 2014, Serpentine Galleries present Park Nights, an annual series of live art, poetry, music, film, literature, performance and theory. This summer, eight events have been conceived to take place on selected Friday evenings in the unique environment of the Serpentine Pavilion 2014, designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic.
Zygmunt Baumanis a sociologist who, since 1971, has resided in England. A professor at the University of Leeds (and since 1990 Emeritus Professor), Bauman has become best known for his analyses of the links between modernity and the Holocaust and of postmodern consumerism. His analysis of what he termed ‘liquid modernity’ in his seminal book from 2000 has come to redefine our understanding of agency, individuality and uncertainty in the 21st century. Following a talk, Bauman will be in conversation with Serpentine Galleries co-DirectorHans Ulrich Obrist.
