Fenix 2: Icon Of The Chilean Mine Rescue

Fénix 2 is the capsule used to rescue the 33 trapped miners from the San José mine in Chile’s Atacama Desert in October 2010.

The capsule became a symbol of hope and triumph over adversity during the unprecedented rescue operation, which saw all the miners brought safely to the surface following their 69-day entrapment.

This display highlights the extraordinary technical challenge of the rescue - which involved hundreds of engineers, technicians and scientists - and includes interviews with key personnel involved in the operation.
