London Chessboxing Season Opener 2015

Don't miss the curtain raiser for another great year of chessboxing featuring the world's best chessboxers in action. Plus live cabaret, DJs and dancing!

Line-up:

Terry Marsh (ENG) V Filippo Gubbini (ITA) (Middleweight)
Former World Boxing Champion Terry Marsh returns to the ring for his second chessboxing bout. The veteran boxer maintained his proud unbeaten record in all competitions by winning his debut fight against Chris Powell in June 2014. This time he faces even stiffer opposition in the form of Italy’s Filippo Gubbini, a 28-year-old with over 50 bouts under his belt, eager to finally inflict a defeat on the wily veteran from Basildon. Be sure you do not miss this thrilling headline fight!

Sergio “The Phoenix” Leveque (ITA) V Dmitry Pechurin (RUS) (Heavyweight)
Remember when Sergio Leveque won the European Heavyweight title in October 2014 via a confidently delivered checkmate? Well, he is back to defend his title and this time he is up against Dmitry Pechurin from Russia. We cannot wait to see those heavyweights battle it out!

Darius Rolkis (LTU) V Ion Citu (ROU) (Light-heavyweight)
We are very excited to welcome a new fighter on the chessboxing scene. This will be Ion Citu’s debut fight, and while he had boxing matches before, it will be interesting to see, how well he will adapt to the alternating rounds of chess and boxing. Can Darius Rolkis use his previous chessboxing experience to his advantage?

Steve “Demon” Philp (ENG) V Richard “The Razor” Frazer (ENG) (Middleweight)
England vs England, or more precisely, Devon vs London. Two seasoned chessboxers will face each other in this highly anticipated bout. Philp first stepped on the scene two years ago emerging as the winner of a testing battle with George “Huggy Bear” Crespo. The name “The Razor” Frazer surely rings a bell with chessboxing regulars. With a range of fights under his belt, he is ready to once again show us some magic. Expect quality – by the bucket-load!

Commentary from the incomparable IM Malcolm Pein and giant digital screens mean you won’t miss a move.
