Six world poets from six continents read with Jo Shapcott and Poetry Parnassus curator, Simon Armitage.
Wole Soyinka (Nigeria), Kay Ryan (USA), Seamus Heaney (Ireland), Kim Hyesoon (South Korea), Claribel Algeria (Nicaragua) and Bill Manhire (New Zealand) all take to the stage for an evening which includes two Poet Laureates, two Nobel Laureates and a Gold Medallist.
The readings are in English, Korean and Spanish

Simon Armitage
The Millennium poet, who has published numerous collections of poetry, produced several novels, and written extensively for television and radio. In 2010 he received the CBE for services to poetry.

Wole Soyinka
Nigerian playwright, poet, novelist and critic, Soyinka was the first African to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He has been imprisoned several times for his criticism of the Nigerian government and has been living for long periods in exile since the 1970s.
