The Barenboim Project 2015
Programme to include:
Ludwig Van Beethoven: Piano Concerto No.1
Interval
Richard Strauss: Ein Heldenleben
Daniel Barenboim returns to his London home to perform with Martha Argerich and the orchestra of the Berlin State Opera.
As part of Southbank Centre's The Barenboim Project, Barenboim applies his extraordinary musicianship to Richard Strauss' orchestral tone poem Ein Heldenleben. This soaring, colourful depiction of 'a hero's life', comes complete with blazing trumpets, angular squeaks and snarls to suggest the pettiness of his adversaries and tender melodies to conjure the hero's companion.
