A Vintage New Year’s Eve Party

A Vintage New Year’s Eve Party is back, offering an opportunity to kick off 2015 at London's most stunning riverside location as a key part of Southbank Centre’s 2014 Winter Festival.

The glamorous party follows two years of sell-out success. The night will see seven decades of timeless sounds and styles across six set-dressed Vintage Nightclubs featuring live music, leading DJs, expert dance tuition, themed cocktails and stylish dining.

The entertainment, curated by Wayne, Gerardine and Jack Hemingway (Hemingway Design) and Southbank Centre’s Vintage Festival team, will also include a hair and beauty salon, photography parlours, a vintage emporium and an exclusive opportunity to view London’s New Years Eve fireworks from one of Southbank Centre’s private terraces. There will also be a new dance floor – The Warehouse – for attendees to discover as they bring in the New Year.

Throughout the night, glamorous decade-specific touch-ups will be available at the Vintage Hair & Beauty Salon, where a specialist team of hair stylists and beauticians will keep guests looking and feeling fabulous. Vintage photography specialists will also be on hand to capture the moment at a photography parlor or photo booth. Throughout the building there will be food to fit the music, with historically-linked diners and period cocktails, all specially put together by Company of Cooks.

Customers booking dining tickets will receive a three course meal and a reserved space beside the main ballroom floor of Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall for the whole evening, as well as access to a dedicated bar. Please note, there is only one sitting for dining which begins at 7.30pm. Early booking is strongly recommended.

*Please note that the fireworks are not guaranteed and will depend on weather conditions. This is at the direction of Jack Morton Ltd and is not under the control of Southbank Centre or its staff.

Vintage highlights include:

The Torch Club
For one night only, The Clore Ballroom at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall will transform into The Torch Club for an evening of the finest 1930s and 1940s entertainment. The club will be curated by Snowboy and will feature Benoit Viellefon & his Orchestra alongside the genre’s best DJs, dance troupes and entertainers. Also expect some professional dance tuition, including light-hearted period party dances like the 'Lambeth Walk'.

The Torch Club Dining Rooms
For an extra special New Year's Eve, party-goers can dine in style with a three-course themed meal whilst enjoying The Torch Club entertainment. Dinner and drinks will be served in a reserved seating area, including a dedicated bar to enjoy all night long. View the menu here www.southbankcentre.co.uk/vintagenye

The Warehouse
A new addition this year for A Vintage New Year’s Eve Party, The Warehouse dance floor will overlook the London Eye. Starting the night off with ska, reggae and lovers rock before ramping up to New Wave (from Blondie to The Clash), DJs will move onto 80s electronica, New Romantic (Soft Cell to Depeche Mode) and then the night will culminate with a hands-in-the-air extended session of pre-rave boogie, acid and house jams.

Let It Rock
The finest 50s rock'n'roll bands and DJs including the legendary Keb Darge will play bopping rockabilly and shuffling rhythm’n’blues, as expert dance tutors Kav Kavanagh and Suzy Q keep the floor moving with jive and stroll lessons.

The Soul Casino
The Soul Casino dance floor will reverberate with deep funk and rare groove as well as classic and northern soul – from DJs including Dr Bob Jones and Eddie Piller.

The Pick-Up Joint
Sing-a-longs and unashamed dancing to guilty-pleasure-pop takes place in a kitsch themed bar for singles, couples or groups of friends letting their hair down. The proceedings will commence with the infamously exuberant pub quiz queen, Holestar, and digress into London’s new favourite pastime ‘rave knitting’ with tunes provided by the bombastic DJ Anna Greenwood.

The Tiki Bar
Whilst looking out over the River Thames on the fifth floor of Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, revelers can Frug, Limbo, Watusi and Twist with the swingingest 60's pop party on the planet. Martin Green (The Sound Gallery & Smashing) and Martin Karminsky (Karminsky Experience & Blow Up) spin classics and boot fair discoveries whilst the host, Count Indigo, awards prizes to the most agile, inventive and energetic dancers in the Strictly Go-Go competition.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Shortly before midnight the party will move outside to an exclusive terrace overlooking the Thames where, weather permitting*, London's world-famous New Year's Eve fireworks can be enjoyed away from the crowds, before heading back inside to welcome 2015 in spectacular style.
