A Celebration Of Bangladesh Independence

The Bengali community played an important role in highlighting the atrocities taking place in Bangladesh, lobbying British government and the international community and raising funds for refugees and Bengali freedom fighters. A key feature of this period was the support provided by member of the white British majority – in this case, politicians, diplomats, lawyers and journalists.

This event will tell the story behind the struggle to achieve independence through poetry, music and dance.
