Dance Triple Bill

A triple bill of new contemporary work created by South Asian dance makers living and working in Europe.

Heritage by Shailesh Bahoran presents a synthesis of hip-hop and Indian dance, exploring Indian mythology and dance traditions via his own disciplines of popping and breakdance.

In Tightrope Walker by dancer Sooraj Subramaniam and Netherlands-based choreographer Kalpana Raghuraman, Subramaniam performs a personal solo exploring ideas about growing up within the restrictions of a culture of shame and breaking loose from the shackles of being watched.

The third piece to complete the evening of contemporary dance inspired by the traditions of the Indian classical forms of Kathak and Bharatanatyam will be chosen from Akademi's Choreogata programme.
