No Frills - Flamenco Show 2014

Three dancers, one voice, one guitar and one percussion box:No Frillsis flamenco stripped down to its bare essence. A celebration of the raw and yet nuanced energy that flamenco awakens not only in the dancer but in the spectator too.

Through an exploration of a number of its traditional styles, in their most evocative form this show goes in search of pure expression. Three young artists Noemi Luz, Magdalena Mannion, and Yinka Esi Graves seamlessly interweave their individual styles creating a shared flamenco language.

So what happens when you take away the frills?

For one hour the artists occupy the space in a continuous dialogue with each other and the audience. No Frills asks the spectator to put aside their pre-conceptions of what flamenco is and gives them a unique insight into its rhythms, its melodies, its energy and its power.
