Gandini Juggling

Gandini Juggling has been performing its potent and playful hybrid of circus, dance and theatre around the world for over 20 years. While Pina Bausch’s powerful theatricality inspired its international hit show Smashed, new show 4 x 4 Ephemeral Architectures continues the company’s love affair with pure patterns and mathematics.

Gandini Juggling’s director Sean Gandini is master of ceremonies as four classical dancers, choreographed by former Royal Ballet First Artist Ludovic Ondiviela, join four of Gandini’s elite jugglers to create a crystalline architecture of fleeting journeys and object trails. Guy Hoare’s atmospheric lighting completes the picture.

Nimrod Borenstein, a protégé of Vladimir Ashkenazy, has composed new music - Suspended op 69 – for string quintet, played live by chamber ensemble Camerata Alma Viva.

The dancers are Kieran Stoneley, Kate Byrne, Erin O'Toole and Joe Bishop; the jugglers are Kim Huynh, Sakari Männistö, Owen Reynolds and Kati Ylä-Hokkala.
