Never miss another 'Sarah Hall' show
The Joy Of Influence: A Novelist On Painting: Sarah Hall
Part of a series where the most celebrated English-speaking novelists come to King’s to talk about another great art form close to their hearts.
With front rank writers addressing their love not of literature but of other art forms, The Joy of Influence, produced in collaboration with King’s Cultural Institute, underlines the energetic approach of King’s College London’s English Department to fresh approaches in the literary arts.
Brilliant novelist Sarah Hall, twice nominated for the Man Booker Prize, will discuss the life of painting in her work and share her view of the art world in modern life.
Sarah Hall was born in Cumbria in 1974. She received a BA from Aberystwyth University, Wales, and a MLitt in Creative Writing from St Andrews, Scotland.
She is the author of Haweswater, which won the 2003 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel, a Society of Authors Betty Trask Award, and a Lakeland Book of the Year prize.
Sarah's other novels include The Electric Michelangelo, The Carhullan Army and How To Paint A Dead Man.
Her first collection of short stories, titled The Beautiful Indifference, was published by Faber & Faber in November 2011, it won the Edge Hill short story prize and was short-listed for the Frank O'Connor Prize.
