East London born and raised, Double MOBO Award-winning saxophonist Yolanda Brown grew up surrounded by an eclectic mix of music, ranging from Reggae to Salsa, which is now reflected in her unique sound and style.

Empirical are four young musicians of awe-inspiring talent and originality: Nathaniel Facey (alto saxophone), Shaney Forbes (drums), Tom Farmer (bass) & Lewis Wright (vibes).
Former members of Gary Crosby's Tomorrow's Warriors, they released their debut album on Courtney Pine's record label, Destin-E, which was hailed Jazz Album Of The Year by Mojo and Jazzwise. 2010 also saw them pick up the coveted MOBO award for Best Jazz Act, and the UK's Peter Whittingham Award. They are dedicated to maintaining the roots of traditional modern jazz but have a definite finger on the pulse of the contemporary world. Empirical recently played a live set for Jamie Cullum's BBC Radio 2 jazz programme.
