As Glasgow puts the final touches to preparations for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, a taste of Scotland comes to the City of London.

Nicola Benedetti, superstar violinist, is internationally recognised as one of the most sought-after classical musicians of her generation. This Commonwealth Connections concert will see her return to the City of London Festival. Her latest musical adventure is both a departure and a homecoming: having learned fiddle technique from Aly Bain she triumphantly opened this year’s Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival in January, where her performance was commended as a "a spellbinding encounter between classical and trad, in which Benedetti achieved moments of truly exquisite symbiosis" - The Scotsman. For this City of London Festival appearance Nicola will head-up an all-star line-up, collaborating with some of Scotland’s top traditional musicians including Julie Fowlis, Phil Cunningham, Duncan Chisholm, Tony Byrne, Eamonn Doorley, Ewen Vernal and James Mackintosh.

Set in the magnificent Guildhall Great Hall, the awe-inspiring and iconic splendour of the venue will make this exclusive concert truly unique.
