NT Connections Double Bill: Tomorrow / A Letter To Lacey

The Bush Theatre is delighted to be a partner of this year’s National Theatre Connections festival, the UK-wide initiative that offers groups of young people the chance to perform new plays from some of the most exciting playwrights in the country.

Tomorrow by Simon Vinnicombe, performed by students of East Berkshire College.

It’s last day of school, then prom night, then results day – in three epic scenes, Year Eleven find themselves precariously on the brink of adulthood.

A Letter To Lacey by Catherine Johnson, performed by students of West Thames College.

Kara sits down to write an email to someone she’s never met: her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend. Reece was the love of her life and as Kara spills her heart out, we learn just what it took to be with him – from their first meeting in the local park to their final showdown in a hospital. This play explores partner abuse and how it affects not just the couple involved, but their friends and family as well. Some of the content is shocking and sad; the musical numbers offer a little light-relief.
