The Punky Reggae Party Show
A one-woman multimedia soiree with writer, educator and post-punk musician Vivien Goldman, aka The Punk Professor, who presents a multimedia exploration with previously unseen footage of those mid-1970s years that Bob Marley described as the Punky Reggae Party.
Evoking a time when music was fired with mission and meaning, Goldman, who now teaches Punk, Reggae and Afrobeat at New York University, re-visits artists she wrote about and hung out with, like The Clash, the Sex Pistols, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Lee Perry, The Slits, The Specials, Aswad and Steel Pulse.
In those dub days, music was a cultural challenge to a stagnant, racist system. Come and discuss what role it plays now, in our post-show ‘reasoning’.
