Tammy Weis

For this 606 performance Tammy will get back to her jazz roots with a celebration of the music of jazz vocalist Julie London, who was named the Most Popular Female Vocalist by American music industry trade publication Billboard in 1955, 56 and 57. London, who is probably most closely associated with the torch song "Cry Me A River", was noted for her languid demeanour and smoke-filled voice, a perfect fit for Tammy's own sensual interpretations of classic standards and impressive originals.

It will be a real pleasure to hear Tammy put her unique stamp on London's classic repertoire, accompanied by her standout band: Tom Cawley on piano, Nigel Price on guitar, Julie Walkington on bass and Dave Ohm on drums. Great singer, great players, great gig this.
