Champagne Gala Evening - Vale Of Glamorgan Festival

Against the superb setting of the Glass Room at St Donats, this opening evening offers a colourful snapshot of this year’s festival as Artistic Director John Metcalf introduces an international line up of artists that bring together sights and sounds from Lithuania, Mexico, America and the UK.

Composer Graham Fitkin will be both talking about and performing his works along with harpist Ruth Wall. They are followed by the remarkable Lithuanian accordion player Raimondas Sviackevi?ius.

Radio 3’s Stephen Johnson (Discovering Music) opens the second half doing what he loves best: pulling apart a piece of music and showing us how it works. In this case the work is Sebastian Currier’s Static the piece that won him the Grawemeyer Award – considered by many as the world’s leading composition prize. It’s UK premiere is given by Mexico’s Onix Ensemble.
