An Evening With Ella

‘The First Lady of Song’ Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century. In her lifetime, she won 13 Grammy Awards and sold over 40 million albums. Known for her sultry ballads, Ella worked with the jazz greats including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman.

Fiona Trotter, greatly influenced by Ella and the songs of the great American Songbook, recreates some of the magic and unique vocal style that Ella was renowned for.

This ‘Evening with Ella’, featuring some of the finest musicians on the Irish jazz scene, showcases and sassy scat singing.
