Wunderkind: Lancashire Sinfonietta, Callum Smart
"Wunderkind" gives new meaning to the term Early Music. Lancaster's very own star studded chamber Orchestra in Residence shows its youthful spirit with a night of music which celebrates young musicians. All of the works in tonight's programme were written by composers in their teens or early 20s.
Also appearing is the BBC Young Musician of the Year winner, Callum Smart. This talented young violinist won the competition at the tender age of 13, and is now creating a stir as he develops his "mature" voice at just 15 years old.
A programme of works comprising:
Tom Harrold: Young composer in residence premiere
Britten: A Simple Symphony
Mozart: Concerto for Violin (tbc)
Rodrigo: Cançoneta for Violin and Strings
Mendelssohn: Sinfonia
