As a celebration of this anniversary, the Arditti Quartet also presents a concert featuring works written especially for the quartet drawn from its vast repertoire. The programme, ranging from older pieces through to the latest premieres, includes Benedict Mason’s first string quartet (premiered at hcmf// in 1989), the UK premiere of a new work by Liza Lim and Philippe Manoury’s Quartet 0 – a very early string quartet withdrawn by the composer, who has given exclusive permission for it to be performed at hcmf// as a birthday gift to the Quartet.
