An Expedition To The Great Exhibition: Mirror Mirror Theatre Company

Victorian sisters Alexandra and Margaret have got their wires crossed!

Alexandra, the loud and adventurous explorer, believes she will be preparing young volunteers for a ‘Great Expedition’ to foreign lands.

Margaret however, a collector of weird and wonderful artefacts, knows their young audience shall be presented with some of the worldly wonders on display at the 1851 ‘Great Exhibition’.

Upon realising their misunderstanding they decide to present a magic lantern show, demonstrating survival tips for a trip to the London extravaganza.

This interactive part-workshop part –performance, combines theatrical games (such as Prince Albert Says… and Build a Brunel) with creative activity in an immersive, character-lead setting which informs participants about Victorian culture and entertainment.

Suitable for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs.

Please Note: This show is adapted for people with visual and hearing impairments and those with learning difficulties; the activity includes touching and guessing about objects and has a clear, detailed script which describes the slides and their historical context, and will also encourage participants to describe the slides. It includes an additional information / activity sheet with the workshop element. The Company communicate clearly for those who lip-read.
