Ensemble Economique
For years the work of US-based experimental musician Brian Pyle has opened up new doors and exciting possibilities in the contemporary music scene. His solo work as Ensemble Economique is arguably his most potent. Pyle’s music looks to the past – shades of Morricone, Carpenter and Frizzi can be found in different corners of his compositions – but in a contemporary experimental music scene rife with patische fetishism, Ensemble Economique offers a fresh curve-ball. This is lively, tense music that possesses its own voodoo-like mysticism.
