Dance Is A Language That We Speak By Romany Dear
Romany Dear was selected by The Skinny and CCA as their award winner at RSA New Contemporaries 2012, an annual survey of graduate work from Scottish art schools. The award includes an exhibition at Intermedia, along with a Showcase in The Skinny in print and online.
Movement is at the core of Romany Dear’s practice; owing to a fascination with the way people move, whether collectively or alone, in synchronization or in improvisation. Using everyday gestures as inspiration, Romany creates choreographic situations that heighten our awareness of movement, aiming to encourage us all to move a little bit more.
For Dance Is A Language That We Speak, Romany will use the exhibition space to share, discuss and present new performative works that relate to her current investigations into movement as language.
