Channel Hopping: Ensemble 7Bridges
The launch concert for Ensemble 7Bridges, the North East’s brand new contemporary music group and Durham University’s new ensemble in residence.
The launch programme combines excitingly original repertoire by French, British, and Irish composers, including an electrifying new work from Bryn Harrison and thrilling new commission from leading Irish composer Gerald Barry. It combines a wide range of styles from both sides of the English Channel, hopping from the classic avant-garde to melodic, contemplative and harmonic sound worlds.
From the intricate spectral sculpting of Grisey’s legendary Périodes to the haunting reworking of classical harmony in Pesson’s Nebenstück, there will be something here for everyone to enjoy!
