About War Horse

A traditional family drama about the bond between a boy and his horse, based on the children's novel by Michael Morpurgo. Young farmer Albert (Jeremy Irvine) considers his horse Joey to be a great companion. One day when Albert's parents (Emily Watson and Peter Mullan) are feeling harassed by their landlord (David Thewlis), Albert realises that Joey can help with the farm work by ploughing the land. But tragedy strikes when the first World War breaks out. Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. At first he belongs to a British officer, but he is soon captured by the Germans before escaping to the safety of a French family. Meanwhile Albert decides to find Joey and despite not being old enough to join the army, embarks on a dangerous mission across Europe.
