About Tiny Furniture

A hapless university graduate finds that her education is worthless when she steps into the real world in this indie comedy drama. Writer/director Lena Dunham plays Aura, who returns to her family home after university. Her mother Siri (Laurie Simmons, Dunham's real-life mother) is a trendy artist and her younger sister is already a prizewinning poet. Neither really need her in their lives. An intelligent underachiever, Aura takes a job in a restaurant where she becomes interested in a cook (David Call). Although she's smitten, he has a girlfriend and only cares about the drugs she can procure for him. Her relationship with a free-loading self-involved friend (Alex Karpovsky) is similarly unfulfilling. Unlike all those movies about fashionable, single successful women being fabulous in the Big Apple, 'Tiny Furniture' has a realistic heroine who doesn't always get it right.
