About The Sweeney

Arriving on the TV scene in 1975 to blow the bloody doors off cosy British cop dramas, the Sweeney followed the exploits of two tough geezers unafraid to get their hands dirty in the name of the law. This update stars Ray Winstone as the no-nonsense, bad-tempered Detective Regan and rapper/director/actor Plan B as his slightly more reasonable colleague Carter. They're part of an elite police team known as the flying squad/Sweeney Todd. They have to 'sowt ahht' some Serbian bank robbers in the London underworld, which affords them plenty of opportunities to display some of the finer cop cliches, such as skirt-chasing, turning off cameras to beat interrogation subjects and disrespecting superior officers. They're the Sweeney, son, and they haven't had any dinner.
