About The Raven
A Gothic style, fictionalised account of renonwned mystery author Edgar Allan Poe's last days, from the director of 'V For Vendetta'. A police detective (Luke Evans) in nineteenth century Baltimore is investigating a series of brutal murders when he is struck by an odd sense of familiarity. He realises that the murders resemble the stories of Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack). Motivated by suspicion he contacts him, but it becomes clear that Poe is not the killer. Instead the real criminal is taunting Poe and the police with macabre details like ravens in coffins and watches stuffed into corpses' mouths. When a young woman (Alice Eve) is abducted, Poe must find the killer before it's too late. In real life Poe married his thirteen-year-old cousin and was found wandering the streets dishevelled and distressed a few days before his death – perhaps Nicholas Cage could star in that version?
