About The Five-Year Engagement

A comedy that details a couple's rocky road from proposal to matrimony. Sous chef Tom (Jason Segel) and psychology student Violet (Emily Blunt) have been happily dating for a year. When Tom proposes, Violet is overjoyed. But after their engagement party a spanner is thrown in the works thanks to Violet's impulsive sister Suzie (Alison Brie) and Tom's best friend Alex (Chris Pratt), so they put off the wedding. Then Violet is offered a fellowship at a university in Ann Arbor, Michigan for two years, and the event is postponed again. Tom and Violet have difficulty adjusting to both the unfamiliar snowy climate and their new working lives: they work opposite hours, and Tom feels frustrated by his job at a deli. As time draws on, they begin to wonder if they're really suited to each other.
