The adventures of Peter Parker and his alter-ego Spiderman are brought to life again for a new take on the franchise. Peter (Andrew Garfield) is your average nerdy outcast. He has a crush on his classmate Gwen (Emma Stone), gets picked on by the popular kids and is troubled by the sudden death of his parents when he was a child. Investigating this mystery leads him to the powerful Oscorp Industries, where he is subsequently bitten by a radioactive spider. He gleefully learns that he now has spidery superpowers. But life can't all be flinging yourself around off roofs and quipping as you defeat bad guys. Gwen's stern police captain father (Denis Leary) sees him as a menace and a sinister mad scientist (Rhys Ifans) has some dark secrets to reveal.
