About Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap
Now probably more recognised for his leading role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ice T released his début album in 1987 and has been a rapper for more than twenty years, dabbling in both controversy and radio-friendly popularity. Who better then, to interview some of America's greatest creative talents in an attempt to explain the art of rap? Kanye West, Eminem and Dr. Dre are some of the more contemporary names who offer a breakdown of their artistic process, while KRS-One, Melle Mel and Doug E. Fresh represent the old school and talk about how rap entered the mainstream. Many of the artists contribute a freestyle rhyme to showcase their abilities, and discuss their love of music and its widespread appeal with passion and humour.
