About Neil Young Journeys
The third Neil Young documentary from Jonathan Demme, this is mostly footage of a concert Young played in Toronto in 2011 interspersed with a tour of Omemee, Ontario, the town where Young spent his childhood. Driving around in a '56 Crown Victoria, Young points out the school named after his father and guides us through the front yard where he used to camp on summer nights as a boy. But for all the places that recall fond memories, many more have changed beyond recognition for Young as he travels to the last stop on his world tour. Featuring material spanning his fifty year career, the performance segments have an intimate quality thanks to a camera on Young's mic stand. Poignant newsreels play as Young performs classics that touch on the political and the personal.
