About Lawless

Set in Depression-era America, when Prohibition laws meant people couldn't even drown their financial sorrows legally. Franklin County, Virginia is a bootlegging hotspot and the Bondurant brothers rule the roost. Taciturn Forrest (Tom Hardy) has a reputation for being hard to kill and war veteran Howard (Jason Clarke) acts as his enforcer. Jack (Shia LaBeouf), the youngest, is more sensitive and therefore considered unfit for family business, which only makes him more determined to gain his brothers' respect. Bartender Maggie (Jessica Chastain) catches Forrest's eye while Jack brings out the rebel in pious Bertha (Mia Wasikowska). As the country struggles to regain its footing, the boys have to deal with a sadistic cop (Guy Pearce) who wants them to bend to his will and a big city gangster (Gary Oldman) with a proposition.
