About Dial M For Murder

A conversation-heavy Hitchcock thriller. Ex-professional tennis player Tony Wendice (Ray Milland) shares a nicely-appointed London flat with his wealthy and beautiful wife Margot (Grace Kelly), but his life is far from perfect. Feeling neglected when he still had his career, Margot had a secret affair with Mark Halliday (Robert Cummings), an American crime fiction writer. On discovering her infidelity, Tony made an anonymous attempt at blackmail. Having kept one of Margot’s love letters, he tricks C.A. Swann (Anthony Dawson), an old acquaintance from Cambridge, into leaving fingerprints on it. He then tells Swann he will falsely out him as the blackmailer unless he murders Margot. Backed into a corner Swann agrees and they arrange for him to attack Margot when she is alone and vulnerable. But neither reckon on Margot’s will to live.
