About Bronco Bullfrog
Two young East-end lovers team up with ex borstal boy Bronco Bullfrog, run away from home and drift into petty crime because there's nowhere to go and nothing to do. Shot on location in Stratford's run down urban sprawl and featuring a cast of unknowns assembled from a local acting workshop, first time writer-director Mills reputedly shot the whole film in six weeks for only for only £17,000. Much of the dialogue is improvised and the storyline subtly understated, giving the film a surprising coyness and authenticity lacking in most youth orientated pictures. When the action does arrive the wholly unrealistic fight sequences only add to its wry, sardonic sense of humour.
