Our planet fights for survival against mysterious aliens over land, sea and sky in this explosive blockbuster based on the classic boardgame. Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is a Naval officer on the USS John Paul Jones (probably named after the famous naval fighter, rather than Led Zeppelin's bassist). He's engaged to Sam Shane (Brooklyn Decker) a physical therapist who also happens to be the daughter of his superior, Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson). So when aliens surface near the fleet and an attack kills his more senior officers, the pressure is on for Alex to help save the day. His brother Stone (Alexander Skarsgard) is the Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson and joins the fight against these strange robot/lizard hybrid beings. Pop star (and former teenage army cadet) Rihanna makes her movie début as weapons specialist Raikes in this mix of 'Transformers' and 'G.I. Joe.'
