About Alps
A bizarre, compelling film from the director of the Oscar-nominated and extremely disturbing Dogtooth. A group of emotional misfits get together to form Alps, an organisation with a strange job. They help the bereaved with their grief by posing as a departed loved one. For a few hours a week, they will impersonate the deceased by repeating memorised monologues. The leader (Aris Servetalis), a paramedic known as Mont Blanc, picks the name Alps as he feels it could mean anything, an ambiguity shared by the film itself. Mont Rosa (Aggeliki Papoulia ) risks breaking the rules of the group as she throws herself into her surrogate roles and becomes attached to her clients, while a gymnast and her coach (Ariane Labed and Johnny Vekris) display sadomasochistic tendencies as they train for the job.
