Shapes, Patterns And Colours

The three artists, Christian Caramin, Julie Routley and David Folley play with “Shapes, Patterns and Colours” to demonstrate their interpretations of these elements using different art mediums: sculpture, mosaic and painting.

Based on a combination of natural forms in the parks and gardens of the west country, situated in their powerful wild counterparts, these paintings explore the imposition of man on the natural environment, and its subsequent impermanence and vulnerability.

The fresh, vibrant colours, light and natural forms draw inspiration from a variety of sources including the impressionist painters, art nouveau, oriental artworks and stained glass painting.

Reflecting upon “Shapes, Patterns and Colours”, the viewers’ journey into the artistic world of these three creative practitioners will excite their “third eye”; just like a dream, the viewers will believe their experience wasn’t real, but their emotions will be saying something different.
