Orpheus
A new production of mythology’s most haunting love story, Orpheus.
Battersea Arts Centre’s Grand Hall is transported to a 1930’s Parisian music hall, where legendary guitar virtuoso Django Reinhardt plays the lead role.
Set to a live score of Hot Club jazz and presented with a generous dose of 20th Century glamour, the story follows Orpheus on his ill-fated descent to the underworld to rescue his greatest love, Eurydice.
The original 20th Century organ has been partially restored for use in this playful production brimming with music, myth and mirth.
Performances will be accompanied by live musical interludes and late night dancing on Fridays and Saturdays.
