Spooky Hallowe'en Weekend

Ghostly goings on at Scone Palace over Hallowe'en. Scone Palace will be the venue for two days of ghoulish, ghastly fun for all the family.

Come along and join in the fun with the Alba Puppet Crew as they brew up their own special brand of Hallowe’en magic and mayhem. Meet Eddie The Rat Catcher as he tries out some Hallowe’en pranks which are guaranteed to terrify the local chicken farm, and Janette The Witch who will be casting her own particular brand of magic spells – some of which will doubtless go horribly wrong! Accompanying them in the mischief-making will be Kevin The Vampire, who has promised to behave himself and not bite anyone!

Puppet Shows take place on both days in the Old Kitchen at 12.00 noon, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm. Prizes will be on offer at each show for the best fancy dress costume. What will you come as?!

Get in a flap in the spooky bat trail through the Murray Star Maze; make a splash as you ‘dook’ for apples on the Palace lawns; hunt for hidden Hallowe’en treasures in the creepy witches cauldron lucky dip; conjure up a devilish Hallowe’en-themed glitter tattoo; Hone your artistic skills in a wizard Hallowe’en pottery painting session with ‘For Arts Sake’ of Scone and take home a keepsake of the Hallowe’en fun.

The Old Servants Hall Coffee Shop will be serving up a selection of ‘spooky’ treats and delicious warming snacks.

The weekend also offers adults a fantastic opportunity to join renowned Perthshire author Geoff Holder, as he brings a chill to the spine with a special illustrated talk on ‘The Bodysnatchers of Scone’.

Join Geoff as he delves into the dark world of the Resurrectionists, the strange collaboration of hardened criminals and respectable medical men who broke into coffins and stole bodies for the dissecting tables of the anatomists.

Geoff will also be signing copies of his books Scottish Bodysnatchers, Paranormal Perthshire and The Guide to Mysterious Perthshire, and there will be an opportunity to chat with Geoff at the end of each session.

The talks, which are suitable for over 16s, will take place at 1pm on 26th and 27th October, in the Murray Suite.
